Here are some Frequently Asked Questions that I get on the regular…

(Click the ‘+’ sign for the answers!)

  • How much is a session? +

    • Business portraits: Basic Individual Headshots shot in studio begin at $225. The price covers the session itself as well as two finished digital files which you can choose from a private online gallery with reproduction rights.

    • Corporate On Location Group Portrait: One professionally finished image of your whole staff in your place of business, including travel and set up within the greater Regina Area; $500. File is provided as a digital download.

    • On Location Combination Staff Headshots, Group Portraits and Candid Photos: Based on 1/2 day or full day rates. A half day is based on up to 4 hours at $1000. A full day is anything exceeding 4 hours but not in excess of 8 at $1600. Full days must allow for a one hour lunch break. Please contact me for further information about the number of images provided.

    • Family/Pooch Sessions: Session price is $350. Please note that when it comes to portraiture, I run a print based studio. I want to ensure that you walk away with honest to goodness product that you will want to display in your home and share with your loved ones. The session price covers your sitting fee and also includes a $150 print credit. Most families invest from $1000 - $4000 on prints. I include social shareable size copies of any physical product you buy, but please note that no digital images are included in the base price. High Resolution digital files may be purchased at $125 each.

  • How long does a session take? +

    • Individual studio/location business portraits typically range from 20 minutes to one hour, depending on how many outfits you bring, and how chatty we’re feeling.

    • Group business portraits (so, a bunch of people in one image) generally take about a 1/2 hour for equipment set up and from 10 minutes up to a 1/2 hour for the shooting depending on the size of the group (so one hour in total). For busy work environments I try to ensure I take up the least amount of time of the largest number of people. So once I have access to the area where you want the photo taken, I can generally get the set up done on my own, then I won’t pull you and your staff out until we’re ready to shoot.

    • Family/Pooch portraits usually take roughly one hour.

  • What should I wear? +

    • Are you wearing the clothes, or are the clothes wearing you? When doing portraits, you want the attention to be on the face - whether it’s a headshot or a group portrait. I always recommend; long sleeves (especially if you’re like me and have a super light complexion!), dark colours before light colours, and try to avoid patterns (try to stay away from really small/tight patterns as they can create a weird effect on camera!).

    • For groups, it’s usually best to try to stay in one colour family - if you have 6 people wearing blue/greens and one person wearing red, that person is going to stick out!

  • Do you have a studio (also, do you have a place I can freshen up)? +

    • I sure do! I have a beautiful studio in the heritage district, above Bushwakkers and Salon Haze in the Strathdee Mall, which can accommodate around 10-15 people. We have a washroom for outfit changes and to check yourself (before you wreck yo’self! The studio is accessible by elevator if anyone has mobility issues.

  • Should I bring props? +

    • If it’s meaningful to you and you think it will add to your session, absolutely. It’s better to have it and not need it than to want it but not have access to it. If your family absolutely loves the Riders and you all have personalized jerseys? Bring them. If you’re a musician and your instrument is portable, bring it with you. (If it’s something you can’t really move, like a piano, or a building or something though, let’s talk about an on location shoot!)

  • How far in advance do I need to book? +

    • Most clients book one-two weeks in advance. While I can occasionally manage last-minute bookings, please note, all of my sessions are by appointment only. So if you show up at the studio, you will be disappointed.

  • How long does it take to get my prints/files? +

    • Turnaround for business portraits is typically 5-7 days. Family sessions have a viewing/ordering session that comes generally a week or two after the shoot where I will show you a curated batch of the best photos from that session. Print order processing generally takes 4-6 weeks.

  • Packages have a set number of items, but can I order more? +

    • Absolutely!

  • What kind of products do you have? +

    • For Family Portraits I want you to know that I am a print based studio. Everyone wants the digitals these days, that’s a given. And I want you to be able to share your images either by email for your loved ones far away or for you to share them on Facebook. But I also want you to have honest to goodness product that you can see and touch. You’re not just commissioning me to take your portrait, you’re commissioning me to capture emotion and connection with the people (or pooches) that you love most. Because someday, those portraits may be all you have left. Digital files are transitory (file types change over time) and also can be corruptible! Thumb drives can be lost or damaged (or occasionally go through the wash - true story!). Wall portraits and albums can be passed on to your loved ones.

    • I have a wide selection of wall art (canvases, metals, signature prints), albums, cards and a few specialty items (ornaments, jewelry, keepsake boxes etc) samples of which I can show you when you come to my studio you can see them and see the quality of the materials that you’ll want to show off to everyone who comes to visit.

  • Do you use a Make-up Artist or Hairstylist? +

    • Do you prefer to do your own make-up or would you like to be a little pampered in the hands of a professional? If you are a wizard with eyeshadow and contouring then you are more than welcome to do your own, but if not? I have a Make-up and Hair stylist who can make you look your best (and your most natural!) for an upcharge of $200. Please contact me for group rates.

  • Is your studio accessible? +

    • Yes! If you have mobility issues, our building has a ramp in the back along with a freight elevator that we can use to get you to my space. Please contact me ahead of your arrival for arrangements.

  • Can I just swing by for a photo? +

    • Noooo no no no. I do photography throughout the city and throughout the week, so if you drop by, chances are high that I either will be in the middle of a pre-scheduled shoot or I won’t be around to even answer the door. All of my sessions are by appointment only.

  • Can you do sessions on location? +

    • Sure can! All of my lighting equipment is portable. I’ve shot in hotel foyers, in atriums, in people’s homes or even their yards.

  • Do you travel for sessions? +

    • Within reason, yes. Travel within 30kms of Regina is included. Travel beyond that is charged at a rate of $0.50 per kilometre.

  • Do you do weddings? +

    • Sorry I don’t! Though I occasionally assist my awesome business partner Erin. You should check out her page - AngylRavyn Photography and she can help you out! I will, however, do couples portraits - Just cause you’re not tying the knot doesn’t mean you shouldn’t still have a chance to create beautiful images to celebrate your relationship!

  • Do you do grad portraits? +

    • Yes I do! Though technically under the umbrella of my other company, Twelfth Year Photography. You should definitely check out our website here, we like to make a whole grad portrait session a fun experience!

  • Do you do Boudoir? +

    • Sorry, no! But once again, I will point you to Erin and she can help you out!

  • How about Newborns or Maternity? +

    • Unfortunately no. While there are super cute babies out there, I do not feel confident when it comes to babies. But I can recommend another photographer - Sweet Littles by Bree can do both maternity AND newborn images.
